Winter at the Beach- June 11,2018

Since the beaches here are desolate during winter, we were able to get approval for p-day at the beach. That was pretty exciting. We got lots of fun pictures, threw a frisbee around (shoutout to Mike and Molly for the pre-mission gift), and watched the surfers catch some good waves.

On Friday, I got to go on trade-offs in the Chinese branch again. I have really come to love it there (I've only been there for maybe 5 days in total). They have activities almost every night, so it feels like a family. At the FHE I went to, it was entirely in Chinese, but the food was good. I've also developed a greater respect for language learning missionaries. Our mission only has a few mandarin assigned missionaries, but they cover a cantonese ward. So whether missionaries are from china or from an english speaking country, they have to learn two languages while on the mission. Teaching is much easier when it's in your native language.

Other than that, we had a number of emergency transfers in the zone. Combined with the fact that we have a few missionaries going home this transfer, it feels like our zone is dwindling in both numbers and energy. The rumors have it that we will be combining with the Sydney Harbor zone once the missions merge in July. At least that's something to look forward to.

...So, the work goes on. More next week!
