Katrina's Baptism!- June 24, 2018

So we got transfer details yesterday and we found out that Elder Smith and I are both going to be transferred on Tuesday. It's sad to leave everyone behind. We've both really enjoyed serving together in Sutherland.

The Lord has perfect timing, though. We both came in right in time to start teaching Katrina (who just walked in to church one day). Because of complications, we had to keep pushing her baptism back, but everything finally came together this week and she was baptized on Friday. It was inspiring to see the roller-coaster of events that happened this week as well as the complete transformation in Katrina. 2 weeks ago, everything was going good, but then out of the blue, their nephew from Tonga shows up on the doorstep (literally). Amidst the war of words, Katrina started to get confused about the whole thing. When we went over on Sunday, she was really stressed out about the baptism and wasn't sure if she wanted to go through with it. Unknown to us, she had been afraid to read the book of mormon and pray about it because of a verse in Revelations. Guided by the Spirit, Elder Smith and I turned to the scripture and explained why the book of mormon is the word of God. She told us that she had been too afraid to ask us about it, but since we had explained things, she felt like a huge burden had been lifted off of her shoulders. We went forward with the baptism and she had a complete transformation. Before her confirmation, she would always talk about how she didn't really know anything and she wasn't sure if she wanted to go forward. But last night, she kept saying how she wanted to share the gospel with her family because she can see how they were lost like she had been. Katrina also shared about how when she was baptized, she felt an overwhelming sense of peace, but when she was confirmed, she felt something warm (almost hot) envelop her whole body and she just felt so sure about everything. It was really cool because although we had talked about the peaceful reassurance of the Holy Ghost before, to my knowledge, we had never referred to it as a "warm fuzzy feeling."

Other things that happened this week: Elder Smith and I stopped by to see 99 year old Andrew. But when we got there, we found Andrew on the ground. He had fallen almost 4 hours ago and nobody was there to help him get up. He kept calling us his "ark angels" and thanked us profusely. We talked to the ward to try and get some help, but it still kind of worries me.

Since Elder Smith and I will be transferred, out flatmates (Elder Bohne and Elder Zimmerman) will be the new ZL's. Our dynasty will live on hahaha.

I've included a lot of pictures that we took with the ward before we left.
