Last week: Berry Colossal Crunch and Cricket
So we got a call last week saying that this creepy old guy had been following the sisters around (actually trailed them to their flat) and had started threatening them. Just to be safe, we went over (compliments of a members cricket bat) and sat outside while the sisters grabbed bedding and a change of clothes. We thought he was following us for a while, but it turned out to be nothing haha.
In other news, one of the elders that was here before got some berry colossal crunch from back home and didn't finish it all. So I've been enjoying the American cereal the past little bit. The breakfast cereals here aren't very good. (The leading brand is called weet-bix and it tastes like it sounds)
Spiritual experience: when I was in this ward before, Elder Sim and I started teaching a single mother named Brooke. After I left, not progress was made, so now that I'm back, it's like we're picking up right where I left off. Since we hadn't seen her in a while, Elder Raab and I decided to just randomly stop by (she wasn't answering phone calls/texts). While we were on the bus, I told Elder Raab that we needed to go over to another family first and then walk over to Brooke's house. That took about an hour, but it worked out perfectly because it turns out that Brooke had invited Bishop over for dinner and had meant to tell us to come as well, but she forgot to invite us. We randomly showed up 10 minutes before bishop and got free pizza out of it. Win-win situation :)
This week: We're Evicted! and President Runia's Here
Because of the previous elders that lived in our flat, Elder Raab and I are getting evicted within the next week haha. We found out on Saturday and we're still trying to find a place to live at the moment. The mission is just one big adventure. :)
We got to meet President Runia for the first time! He's super awesome! An interesting story about him: Through High School, President Runia was a pretty good basketball player. When he graduated, he was faced with the choice to either go on a mission or stay and play basketball. One morning, Legrand Richards (of the twelve) and a member of the presidency of the seventy showed up to his house. They came inside and told him that they were on assignment from President Spencer W. Kimball to tell him that instead of going on a mission, he should stay and play 4 years of basketball for BYU, which he did. President Runia said that for the last 40 years, the only calling he has ever wanted was to be a missionary. Pretty inspiring story.
On Tuesday, Katrina (recent convert) and Carol(member from Sutherland) came to Campbelltown and took us out for dinner. It was really good to see all the kids again and to catch up. She's progressing really well and has been looking for ways to share the gospel!
Andrew from the Sutherland ward passed away on Thursday at the age of 99 (1 day before his birthday). While we were at dinner on Tuesday with Carol and Katrina, I felt like the missionaries really needed to go see Andrew right away. Carol passed the message on for me, and they were able to give him a blessing on Wednesday. I've shared a video that I took with him and Elder Smith a few months ago.
Miracles of modern technology: Using the gospel library app is soooo nice! Now that I can link scriptures and create notebooks on a phone, preparing for lessons, trainings, and talks goes so fast. I can now prepare about an hour of training in less than 15 minutes. The church is true. I love technology.
That's about all from this week!
Ofa atu!
